Rory Flack Burghart won the bronze medal in the Junior Ladies event at the U.S. National Figure Skating ​Championships in 1986. She also was the 1995 U.S. Open Champion and 2000 American Open Pro Champion. She had a very successful career as a professional figure skating performer.

Additionally, Burghart is the first African American woman to perform a back flip on the ice (in 1991). In 1994 she became the first African American woman to win the US Open Professional Figure Skating Championships. She is very well known for her signature Russian splits.

  1. Hi I love this article about Rory Flack, however her legal name is Not Burghart. That name was her married name. She has since remarried twice. Her married name is Mitchell. Please change this.
