Friends, let’s be real. There are times our flesh gets the best of us. Sometimes we give the devil more credit than he deserves. Most likely, it wasn’t Satan that caused us to tell a lie or react harshly to someone because we were angry. It was a moment we allowed our flesh to give in to temptation instead of relying on the power of God to give us strength.

Yes, we are going to fail at times, but it should be the exception and not a daily habit. How often do we hear, or have even said ourselves, that we are only human, giving an excuse for our sins?  Are we only human?

Are we only human?

As Christians, to say we are only human is to say we don’t have the Spirit of God. Additionally, to allow sin to be our lifestyle when we have been filled with the Spirit is to insult the power of God, indirectly claiming He isn’t strong enough to overcome the sin He died to save us from.

2 Timothy 1:7 tells us, “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”  He did not leave us powerless. Not powerless over Satan, and not powerless over our flesh.

Philippians 4:13 reminds us, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”Not on our own, but through Jesus!

2 Corinthians 12:9 talks about grace, which is divine influence, or the enabling power of the Spirit, which says, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”  When we are weak, He is strong!

Power of God

To live in a manner that does not show others the power of God that is working in our lives is to hide the amazing Savior that wants to reach a lost and dying world. If we are filled with His Spirit, let us deny our flesh and cling to His power to overcome!

He is able, and He’s waiting for us to rely on Him!
