February was an eventful month for Israel.  We woke up on the Shabbat morning of the 10th, to news reports of an incident with Iran, who has military positions just over the northern border in Syria.  They had flown a drone into Israeli airspace, which we shot down.  We then sent in the Israeli Air Force to strike both Syrian and Iranian military targets, and in the process, one of our F16’s was hit.  This was the first plane that Israel has lost in decades, and it was a true act of war against this nation.  To the glory of the Lord, the plane was hit in Israeli airspace and the pilots ejected, and are continuing to recover from injuries.

A week later, Hamas, who is funded by Iran, placed an explosive on the Gaza border, which detonated.  Israel retaliated by striking targets in Gaza, particularly sites that were known to be unground tunnels.  As they do, rockets were then fired at the Israeli cities in the surrounding areas.

We have faced such attack in both the North and the South, and this article is due before the month is over!  It seems that war could likely be on the horizon so please pray for Israel.

Several months ago I was in in a time of prayer about the next pending war, and felt in my heart to pray for expanded borders!  Wouldn’t that be amazing?  It’s not something our government or the public is seeking after, but while reading Genesis 15, I was reminded of the expansive landscape the Lord promised to Abraham, “To your offspring, I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates…” (v.18).  Israel is not in control of even half of this today.  In my mind, I had simply settled that this would be for the age yet to come, but on this particular day, it seemed as if the Lord was saying, “Ask for all that I promised!”   Since then, rather than simply praying for us to not concede land to the Palestinian, or only to hold what we have, I’ve been asking the Lord to grant all that He intended to give this nation!  That’s a bold prayer, but its one I think we should pray!

Acts 17:26 tells us, “And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place…” The Lord determines the boundaries and timing of every nation, and we are in a season in which I think we are seeing great realignments in the Middle East, and around the world.  In Isaiah 19, we learn that Egypt, Israel, and Assyria will be in an agreement, and today, Assyria does not yet exist.  Perhaps the war in Syria is making way for this nation to arise!  Instead of fear, let’s stand together and ask the Lord to bring the earth into his allotments, and to give all that He promised to Israel!
