A social post by popular actor Chris Pratt about the blessings of God over the weekend garnered more than half a million likes and thousands of comments, including remarks by fans thanking him for speaking up about issues of faith.
The Bible-infused Instagram post by the Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy actor included photos of him and his son fishing, along with pictures of a deer, baby goats, flowers and eggs – presumably from his own farm.
Pratt quoted part of Psalm 23.
“The Lord is my shepherd . I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me to Stillwater,” Pratt wrote before pivoting to his own commentary: “Imagine being led to a still body of water and seeing your reflection, the face of one in want of nothing.”
The post drew a wide range of comments on his timeline and more than 675,000 likes.
“Preach, brother!” Christian music artist Blessing Offor wrote.
“Jesus has great plans for your life Chris!” another person commented.
“I love how you are so open to sharing Christianity,” still another person said.
Pratt is one of the most outspoken Christians in Hollywood and often references faith. For a Memorial Day post, he wrote, “Say a prayer for those that have sacrificed for our nation.” In May, he quoted the words of Jesus while acknowledging he sometimes faces criticism for his Christian faith. In January of this year, he re-posted a video of a viral speech he gave in 2018 in which he told the audience, “God is real. God loves you. God wants the best for you.”
His 2018 speech also referenced Christ’s death on the cross.
“People are going to tell you [that] you’re perfect just the way that you are,” he told the audience. “You’re not. You’re imperfect. You always will be, but there is a powerful force that designed you that way, and if you’re willing to accept that, you will have grace. And grace is a gift. And like the freedom that we enjoy in this country, that grace was paid for with somebody else’s blood.”
