“The film is about family values; one of the most important things in the nuclear family and being raised with family is that feeling of constancy, that people being around you have your back. That’s where those values get instilled. They don’t get taught to you. You live them,” Dennis Quaid, who stars as Reagan in the “Reagan” movie, told The Christian Post.

Though the movie “Reagan” will be released in theaters nationwide on August 30th, 2024, that wasn’t the original plan. The movie began shooting before COVID-19, and then the lockdowns and an actor’s strike caused production delays for the anticipated 2023 release. The filming resumed seven months after it had been shut down, and it was forced to push out the release date to 2024.

“It’s not about politics at all,” Kathie Lee Gifford told The Christian Post. “It’s about Nancy and Ronnie’s love affair. I was moved by the film because it shows their love, which was rooted in faith, without turning it into a political statement.

“I stay away from politics,” said Gifford. “It only divides people…I don’t try to give advice to other people about that. I just share Jesus with everybody.”

Gifford co-wrote a song for the “Reagan” movie, which is entitled “I Knew It Would Be You.”

The movie producers told NewsBusters that “Reagan” is a biopic story highlighting “a journey of a lifetime, the all-American story of the boy from Dixon, Illinois, who grew up to be president and changed a nation and the world.”

Quaid told The Christian Post that Hollywood has “lost its way” over time, but “Today, I think faith films are coming into their own, and Hollywood is starting to get it.”

He went on to note that Hollywood has hired what he termed as “fly over state consultants” to “help them understand the Midwest because “They really don’t know what’s going on in the middle of the country, but I think that’s starting to change.”

Besides Dennis Quaid, some other notable stars who are in the movie include Penelope Ann Miller as Nancy Reagan, Jennifer O’NeO’NeillNelle Reagan, Lesley-Anne Down as Margaret Thatcher, Kevin Sorbo as Reverand Cleaver, Jon Voignt as Viktor Petrovich, as well as several others, according to the IMDb.
