Purging Christians from the Marines

Liberty Counsel : A young Marine was recently told her Christian values do not match the values of the U.S. Marine Corps. Joe Biden’s unlawful denial of religious freedom for our military members is a slap in the face to all who have served our nation.

Rachael* graduated near the top of her class at the U.S. Naval Academy, where just getting into the school is a challenge. Upon graduation, she was commissioned a Marine Corps officer and subsequently trained to be a jet pilot. She excelled there as well, again graduating near the top of her class.

Rachael has served her country and the U.S. Marine Corps with pride for years, flying a single-seat jet airplane and landing that ultra-fast bird on the narrow, moving runway of a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier.

When the shot mandates came down, Rachael was distressed. She would not take a shot developed with and/or tested on aborted human fetal cells, as all the COVID shots were.

Rachael filed her religious exemption claim. As with many other active-duty military members, her request was unlawfully denied. And then the harassment and punishment began.

Rachael was singled out for her religious beliefs. Her supervisors harassed her and allowed her shipmates to do the same.

She was forced to wear a mask, symbolizing her “unvaccinated status.” Rachael says her personal health record was on full display for all to see. “I was often intrusively asked by officers and enlisted Marines and Sailors alike why I had not gotten the vaccine,” Rachael wrote in the declaration she submitted for our case against Joe Biden.

Rachael was constantly threatened and harassed by her superior officers. She sat through meeting after meeting forced to defend her religious beliefs to the men and women in her chain of command, all while having her privileges and requests for leave denied.

Rachael stood strong and refused to bend on her deeply held religious convictions. Her commanding officers informed her that perhaps her values did not match the values of the U.S. Marine Corps. And she was threatened with involuntary separation.

Rachael says the treatment she received for not being vaccinated is “unnecessary, illogical and heartless.”

The stress of the situation was creating distractions, making it dangerous for Rachael to fly. She requested a transfer while waiting for an appeal of her religious exemption. Her appeal was not granted.

Now Rachael, like the other service men and women we represent in our massive class action lawsuit against Joe Biden, is waiting to be dishonorably discharged from the Marine Corps she has served so well—unless Liberty Counsel wins this case.

Meanwhile, we also have petitions filed before the Supreme Court in our shot mandate cases against NY Gov. Kathy Hochul and ME Gov. Janet Mills, each of whom have issued unlawful statewide mandates that have decimated the rights of religious health care workers.

The stories of abuse, harassment and fear for the future we hear each day are absolutely heartbreaking. I never imagined there could be so much abuse of exemplary workers who also take their faith seriously.
