The time of year has come around once again. Supermarket aisles are filled with beautiful bouquets of flowers, books, and gifts to help celebrate, and reminders everywhere so we won’t forget. It is the time of year we make a special effort to show our mothers how much we love and appreciate them.
From the youngest to the oldest of women, mothers across the world humbly fill their roles, shaping the upcoming generations with unstoppable love and guidance. A mother’s job includes some of the heaviest responsibilities there are, but with the reward of great fulfillment in the years to come.
Proverbs 14:1 talks about mothers when it says, “The wisest of women builds her house, but folly with her own hands tears it down.” The wise mother knows that her children will face challenges every day they walk out the front door of their homes. Therefore, she knows the importance of forming confidence, righteousness, the values of honesty and hard work, mixed with love and joy, helping her babies to mature into strengths and assets to society. Her joyful countenance and patience for her growing crew is the constant assurance that she does all that she does with love.
Proverbs 31:26-27 also speaks of the mother with these qualities: “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.”
A loving mother is a beautiful gift. Those of us who have been blessed with such a woman needs to remember to be thankful. Additionally, letting her know of our appreciation assures her that we’ve noticed her sacrifices and hard work for those of us whom she loves.
For those of us who have children of our own and have given our all to give them the best life, we should not diminish our own worth when we take the time to honor mothers. We are wanted and needed and are contributing to the future by our love and care as loving mothers.
Happy Mother’s Day, Everyone!
