Wayne County Office of Emergency Services Director Mel Powers Jr. announces the following shelter location in Wayne County for individuals during Hurricane Michael.
The Salvation Army at 610 N. William St. Goldsboro, NC
The shelter will open Thursday, October 11th, 2018 at 8AM. Shelter residents should bring personal hygiene items, medication, specific supplies for: infants, children, and elderly.
The latest National Weather Service briefing for Wayne County is forecasting 3 to 4 inches of rain with sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph and possible gusts of 35 to 50 mph. Localized flooding can be expected in low lying and poor drainage areas. Effects from Michael should begin around 11am tomorrow (Thursday) and continue through mid-evening. The Neuse River is forecast to rise into moderate flood stage with a level of 20.5’ on Monday.
