Goldsboro-Wayne NAACP Branch Extends Redistricting Meeting Invitation to Public and Local Candidates

Goldsboro- On Sunday, April 24, 2022, the Goldsboro-Wayne NAACP Branch will host a redistricting meeting at Rebuilding Broken Places, 2105 N William St, Goldsboro, NC 27530 at 5:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to educate the community on the importance of understanding the implications of redistricting and to hear from candidates for the upcoming 2022 elections. “People of color, the poor, and the imprisoned will be adversely impacted by redistricting,” stated Sylvia Barnes, local Goldsboro-Wayne NAACP branch president. “We want to hear from the candidates regarding their platforms, how they intend to represent all the people of the city of Goldsboro and Wayne County. We also want the residents to fully understand the implications of redistricting and the impact of not voting.” The meeting will explain redistricting, share redistricting maps, and provide an opportunity for local candidates to address those in attendance and answer questions.

This is a non-partisan meeting. All candidates are invited and welcome to come. The Goldsboro-Wayne NAACP Branch holds its executive board meetings on the 2^nd Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. The general membership meetings are held on the 4^th Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. All meetings are held via zoom until further notice.
