Goldsboro, N.C. — On July 25, 2023, at approximately 5:20 p.m., members from the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 795 near mile marker 14 in reference to a chapter 20 violation. During the traffic stop, K9 Rip from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was deployed. After a positive alert on the vehicle from K9 Rip, a probable cause search ensued. During the probable cause search of the vehicle, approximately 47 pounds of suspected marijuana was located in three duffle bags. Both occupants of the vehicle, Brock Johnson and Brandon Duren, were taken into custody without incident. Duren and Johnson were transported to the magistrate’s office. Johnson was charged with Trafficking Marijuana by Possession (F), Trafficking Marijuana by Transportation (F), and Maintaining a Vehicle (F). Johnson was held at the Wayne County Jail on a $5,000 secured bond. Duren was charged with Trafficking Marijuana by Possession (F) and Trafficking Marijuana by Transportation (F). Duren was held at the Wayne County Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.
