Faith leaders are urging Christians to pray for Grammy-winning artist Tori Kelly after she collapsed Sunday and was hospitalized with blood clots.

Kelly, a crossover artist who has won two Grammys and has collaborated with Christian artists Kirk Franklin and For King and Country, is in the hospital and undergoing treatment for blood clots around her vital organs, a source told TMZ. The source described the situation as “really serious.” She was at a dinner in Los Angeles with friends when her “heart started beating really fast,” TMZ said. She then passed out and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Hospital.

“We’re told Tori’s getting care in the ICU, doctors have discovered clots in Tori’s legs and her lungs … and are still working to determine if any clots are around her heart,” TMZ reported. “The singer’s been in and out of consciousness during her hospitalization.”

Kelly has been nominated for five Grammys, winning two (Best Gospel Performance/Song for Never Alone and Best Gospel Album for Hiding Place). She also was nominated for Album of the Year, Best New Artist and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.

“Let’s all be praying for @torikelly,” pastor Greg Laurie posted on Instagram. “… Tori is a believer in Jesus Christ, and I know she and her family will appreciate your prayers for her.”

Laurie posted a video of Kelly giving her personal testimony. In it, she said Jesus and church have always “been a big part of my life.”

Franklin also referenced Kelly on Instagram, posting a prayer emoji alongside her handle and a message, “These bodies are so fragile.”

Kelly collaborated with Franklin and For King and Country on the 2020 CCM hit Together. She also collaborated with Franklin on Never Alone.

Her new album, Tori, is scheduled to be released on July 28. She was scheduled to perform at Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles on the same date.
